My FJ60 Profile

1987 FJ60. Third owner. 135K miles. Freeborn Red. - SOLD

Introduction

Here is a description, with pictures, of my FJ60. I will update this page as I make changes to it. The description contains links to posts with more detail about why I chose the product I chose or why I thought the modification I made was necessary. Overall my philosophy about modifying my FJ60 can probably be described as conservative to moderate. I believe that it is best to leave a vehicle as stock as possible and to only make modifications to enable the vehicle to accomplish tasks that it will frequently be required to do. I follow this overall philosophy for several reasons.

First, Toyota spent a lot of time and energy designing and testing parts that would last a long time when used in all kinds of situations. Therefore the parts that make up their vehicles are generally pretty good. More importantly, Toyota throughly tested the vehicle as a whole with all the parts working together. When you modify one part of the vehicle this can increase stress put on other parts. This can cause a shorter lifespan for parts that are stressed beyond their intended limits. Second, this helps me keep my enthusiasm for working on my 60 in check and keeps me from making modifications that I might later regret, or don’t want or need.
